There's the Washington State fairgrounds downtown, and the boating and fishing in all the beautiful lakes are just minutes away. Puget Sound is a must see; with salt water fishing, crabbing, ferry rides, sight-seeing or just a nice peaceful boat ride.
I mentioned the fair and you probably already know of;
It runs for about 3 weeks in September. The rest of the year it has such events that include arts and crafts shows, Christmas bazaar, gun and car shows (the Good Guys car show attracts hundreds of cars and thousands of people each year), Then the spring fair is in late April.

We have a very nice, scenic, recreational, and paved trail system that starts in Puyallup and goes through Orting and then on into South Prairie and beyond. It follows along the river in some parts and then crosses over in others, while zig-zagging though meadows and shaded woodlands and wetlands. It's a great place for a walk, run, jog, or bike ride. It's a very popular destination.
