We are delighted to welcome you to Sunrise Cabin at beautiful Lake Nahwatzel in Mason County, Washington! We are thrilled to host you and offer a peaceful escape from everyday stress and the hustle of congested traffic! Sunrise cabin is, however, close enough for you to easily enjoy some of Seattle's special events. Seattle is approximately 90 minutes away by car, making day trips into the city convenient for our guests. For example, Seattle's Lumen Field will host World Cup Soccer from June 15 through July 6, 2026!
Lake Nahwatzel is a unique gem nestled at the base of the Olympic Mountains' foothills. The Lake is located in the middle of vast timberlands on the edge of the Olympic National Forest and was integral to the early days of logging. We who are lucky enough to live here feel blessed that our piece of paradise is far enough from the bustle of the state capital, Olympia, yet close enough to take advantage of the many amenities available in the more urban areas.
Lake Nahwatzel is home to eagles and osprey, deer and elk, beavers and otters, and everything in between. Though summer is the time most people think of summer activities like swimming, kayaking, and fishing, winter has its own charm when the swans, shorebirds, and other migrating birds arrive. Winter is quiet, serene, and peaceful; you can imagine the rest of the world no longer exists. In the spring, if you are lucky, you will hear the haunting call of the loon.
Nahwatzel Lake is open year-round for fishing, and is stocked each spring and fall exclusively with larger rainbow trout averaging a pound apiece. But it also receives even larger rainbows from 3 to 8 pounds each, making it a great destination for quality trout fishing in Mason County.

This cabin includes the use of a fishing canoe and kayaks; upon request, fishing gear is also available. A fishing license is easily obtained locally, and you can launch or fish from your own private dock!
Inside, you will find a fully-equipped kitchen with modern appliances, cookware, and dinnerware provided, making it easy to prepare meals during your stay. We offer complimentary Wi-Fi so you can stay connected as needed. Fresh linens and towels are supplied for your comfort. The cabin is heated and cooled for year-round comfort, ensuring a cozy retreat no matter the season. The Alderbrook Resort & Restaurant in Union, WA, is a popular spot for waterfront dining and delicious Northwest cuisine. Blondies in Shelton is a great choice for casual meals and family-friendly fare, and Leonard K's Boat House, 18 miles north of Shelton, serves up hearty dishes on the water. For groceries and essentials, Safeway and Fred Meyer in Shelton offer everything you need. If you're looking for a fun excursion, try the famous Olympic Bakery & Deli for pastries and sandwiches.
